Cost of living reality check -Aurora

Hello, We have two kids and Poverty rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much growing but now it's challenging.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The housing market is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The job market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
