Alright, I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 71°F, so it's warm year-round. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 14 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 56, moved here 3 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Eastside and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Can feel isolated
3. The community vibe situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from LA about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is solid.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
