Housing market in Austin right now

I'm a 36-year-old project manager and Household incomes average around $91,461 in Austin. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience? Appreciate any input. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The healthcare is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely pretty good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Uptown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
