I just moved to Bouldin Creek from LA. Cost of living is slightly cheaper compared to where I came from.
I saw that rent in Bouldin Creek is now /mo which is insane. I'm paying /mo for a 3-bed in Bouldin Creek and honestly makes me consider roommates.
What I like:
- Four seasons
- Good airport
- Strong local businesses
What I don't:
- Traffic is getting worse
- Sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants everywhere
I don't understand why more people don't talk about Bouldin Creek. The food scene in Bouldin Creek is honestly incredible.
Talk me through this.

Not to be negative but the city is losing character. I still like living here overall though. Just keeping it real.

Great question. Here's my honest take after 5 years:
The good:
- Affordable compared to coastal cities
- Safe neighborhoods
- Strong arts and culture scene
The not-so-good:
- Winters are harsh
- Parking is a nightmare
The school system in {hood} is actually {adj}.. I'd say for singles, Austin is hit or miss.

Let me give you the perspective nobody asked for but everyone needs.
I've lived in Westlake, Bouldin Creek, and currently in Travis Heights. Each one feels like a different city honestly.
Rent comparison:
- Westlake: /mo for a 1-bed
- Bouldin Creek: about /mo
- Travis Heights: /mo but pretty good
Traffic has gotten noticeably worse in the past year.. The key is finding your neighborhood. Once you do, Austin really clicks.

OK let me break this down from someone who's been here a while.
Allandale vs Westlake: completely different vibes. Allandale is more improving with trendy restaurants and coffee shops. Westlake is growing and better for young professionals.
Cost-wise, expect /mo minimum for anything decent in Allandale. In Westlake you can find stuff for /mo.
I feel like {city} is becoming more expensive without getting better.. Cost of living is {col_feel} compared to where I came from.
