Housing market in Austintown right now

First post here. Household incomes average around $50,855 in Austintown. Homes are going for about $133,000 on average. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Easy commute

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Poor road conditions
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely average and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (South) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Korean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
