So, I've been here for 4 years and It's a a small town city with about 1,033 people. Poverty rate is 16.3%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $294,200 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Anyone in a similar situation? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The weather scene is improving
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.
