Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and Poverty rate is 7.6%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Seattle about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is average.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The food scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
