Longtime lurker here, Crime rate is something to consider -Avon-by-the-Sea sits at 56.6 per 100K. Worth the trade-offs?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much developing but now it's better than expected.
