Been meaning to ask this. I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $110,174 in Avon Lake. You can expect to pay around $1,500 for rent here. With a population of 25,456, Avon Lake is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $337,200 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Does this match your experience? Appreciate any input. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Raleigh about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Fairview area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to San Francisco it's average.
