Is it worth buying in Avon Lake?

Hey everyone, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $1,500/month for a decent place. With a population of 25,456, Avon Lake is a smaller city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
