First post here. The median home value here is around $377,100, which seems about average. Homes are going for about $377,100 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What would you do?

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Oak Park area are average. Kids love it here.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
