Raising a family in Awendaw -thoughts?
Been meaning to ask this. I relocated for work and The unemployment rate is 5.6%, which is about average. Rent is about $2,792/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
