Poverty rate is 8.7%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $85,727, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I overthinking this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Chicago about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Lakewood area are average. Kids love it here.
