Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -Azusa sits at 285.7 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. What would you do? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..
