First post here. I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Badger sits at 492.2 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 5 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is decent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The cultural scene is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been here 14 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, No regrets on my end..
