Rent is about $843/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $150,600 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Thoughts? TIA! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Fairview area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I work in government here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is decent. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 14 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
