Moved here from New York about 1 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to traffic but Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- The job market scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for family and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The healthcare is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
