Honest thoughts on life in Baker City

Alright, Been living here since 2023. Poverty rate is 7.7%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $833 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Anyone in a similar situation? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in retail. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
