Job hunting in Bakersfield Country Club -tips?

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a small town city with about 1,790 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
