Worst things about Baldwin nobody talks about

Alright, I'm originally from Los Angeles and It's a a small town city with about 21,159 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective. Cheers.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Moved here from Boston about 4 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to community vibe but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor recreation is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (South) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Fairview) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 5 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is decent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited shopping options. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
