I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 12 years. Moved from San Francisco for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Dating scene is rough. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The weather is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 4 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely underrated and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (West) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.
