Rent vs buy in Ballville -what makes sense?

OK so Just moved here 9 months ago and The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,003/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $185,100 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 12 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is pretty good in most areas.
