Ballwin in the winter -how bad?

The median home value here is around $353,400, which seems about average. What are your go-to spots?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 11 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 15 years. Moved from San Francisco for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is improving - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Dating scene is rough. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Minneapolis it's surprisingly good.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Chicago about 7 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Sunset for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- The public transit scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..
