Best coffee shops in Baltimore?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm originally from Seattle and Household incomes average around $59,623 in Baltimore. With a population of 577K, Baltimore is a major city. Poverty rate is 15.3%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $219,300 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Thoughts? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 6 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Boston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is average.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
