Moving to Baltimore for work — advice?

First post here. It's a a major city city with about 577K people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in The Heights area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from New York about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
