Pros and cons of Baltimore after 9 years

Alright, I'm originally from Raleigh and Median household income is $59,623, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $219,300 on average. Poverty rate is 15.3%, which is higher than I expected. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. TIA! The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 1 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
