Anyone else feel this way? I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider — Baltimore sits at 1,858.7 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Worth the trade-offs?

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Midtown area are solid. Kids love it here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Boston it's improving.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Minneapolis about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The healthcare is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
