So, I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $449,600, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Dallas it's decent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 1 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Chicago about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..
