Working in Banks Springs -salaries realistic?

Anyone else feel this way? Median household income is $22,240, which feels on the lower side for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Anyone in a similar situation? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to.
