Bannockburn job market vs Seattle

I relocated for work and With a population of 1,125, Bannockburn is a small town. Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What do you all think? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I work in legal here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 6 years. Moved from Houston for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Far from beaches/mountains. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Definitely worth checking out..
