What's it really like living in Barclay?

Hey, I've been here for 10 years and Homes are going for about $438,400 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Worth the trade-offs? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've lived in East for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- The safety scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 11 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Came here for family and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The safety is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
