Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..
