Top 5 things I love about Barre

Hey folks, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $53,288, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 8,461, Barre is a small town. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? TIA!

Used to live on the West side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Portland about 15 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
