Biggest downsides of living in Barrington?

I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,886 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The cost of living is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely decent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (West) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 10 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
