Is Barrington getting better or worse?

Hey, I'm single, late 50s, and The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 11,049 people. Median household income is $150,714, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 11,049, Barrington is a small town. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
Thanks for reading. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
