Barstow is underrated, change my mind

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Been living here since 2018. Rent is about $1,065/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $51,811 in Barstow. The unemployment rate is 5.3%, which is about average. Median household income is $51,811, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Seattle about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The traffic is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
