Is Barstow still affordable?

So, I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 25,198, Barstow is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,065 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- Far from major airports
- Not enough green space
Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.
