Hey everyone, I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 37,559, Bartlesville is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Bartlesville sits at 304.1 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What do you all think? Cheers. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely tough and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (West) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Springfield for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- The safety scene is improving
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.
