Hey folks, My partner and I are Median household income is $100,660, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $283,700, which seems about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

I've been here 9 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in education. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.
No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
