Random thought, I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $837/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 18.0%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 2,096, Basile is a small town. Household incomes average around $49,167 in Basile. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Worth the trade-offs? TIA! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Cedar Grove area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Baltimore it's hit or miss.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Southern places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in South for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The walkability scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Westside for 10 years. Moved from Raleigh for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Homeless population growing downtown. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
