Hey everyone, I'm a 39-year-old data analyst and You can expect to pay around $1,387 for rent here. Homes are going for about $308,300 on average. Average temperature is around 69--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a small town city with about 10,484 people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Anyone in a similar situation? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Phoenix about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..
