Most overrated things about Batavia

Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Batavia sits at 125.3 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,730 people. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Growing food scene
- Walkable downtown
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Does this match your experience? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 1 years. Moved from LA for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is average - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Not very walkable outside downtown. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
