Alright, I'm single, late 20s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Batavia sits at 466.4 per 100K. Poverty rate is 6.8%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2017 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Salt Lake City it's pretty good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely pretty good and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
