Is Batesville worth it salary-wise?

OK so I'm single, late 50s, and Rent is about $902/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 17.8%, which is higher than I expected. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Is this normal for Batesville? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The cultural scene is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
