Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a small town city with about 24,065 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Bay Point sits at 259.2 per 100K. Household incomes average around $80,684 in Bay Point. Poverty rate is 12.1%, which is around average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Should I be concerned?

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Downtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The healthcare scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 14 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Eastside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- The dating scene scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.
