Grocery stores in Bay Shore -recommendations?

Median household income is $101,695, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 31,275, Bay Shore is a smaller city. Rent is about $1,907/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I wrong here? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Uptown for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cultural scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 15 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 14 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Limited entertainment options. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.
