Is Bay Shore walkable?

You can expect to pay around $1,907 for rent here. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (West) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 11 years. Moved from Atlanta for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Far from beaches/mountains. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 9 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Miami about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.
