Just moved to Bay Shore, any tips?

Crime rate is something to consider -Bay Shore sits at 22.0 per 100K. Rent is about $1,907/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Worth the trade-offs? The suburbs are where most families end up.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is tough in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2023 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.
