Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Nashville about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is tough.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..
