It's a a mid-size city city with about 167K people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Is this normal for Bayamón zona urbana? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much affordable but now it's hit or miss.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in East for 4 years. Moved from Austin for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is improving - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Chain restaurants dominate. And nightlife can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Houston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
